Zero friction service

Can you provide zero friction service? On Day One, a new starter already has their laptop and a mobile phone - because you delivered it to their home address - and they can successfully log in to them both. They have an email address, have been made a member of relevant distribution lists and chat rooms, and have access to all the documentation they need to start working from both devices. All HR forms they need to sign are done so digitally.

They can log-in seamlessly (via single sign on) to any applications they need access to. They have the right access and the right permissions because you've already worked this out from their job role.

Do they have the option to acquire common desktop software packages, selecting them from a list and having them installed automatically: no need for a ticket to be raised justifying the need and requiring authorisation before an engineer logs in and takes over your machine for twenty minutes while they go through the installation notes.

At your organisation, with the current toolset and capabilities, it may not be possible right now, but if you set that as your vision you can slowly work towards it: making adjustments to the way you work and seizing opportunities when they come your way.
